Colorful Colorado

The Elk Mountains-our backyard-central Colorado
Wildflowers above treeline

Indian Paintbrush-11,500ft

This is how I got there
I was completely alone
Just enough patches of snow
To keep the Jeeps
down on the streets
While I just tip-toed
Around and kept going

Door #1

I chose my apparel, I wore a beer barrel, and they rolled me to the very first row.
Then I held up a sign and it said, Kiss me I'm a baker and Monty I sure need the dough.
And then I grabbed him by the throat until he called on me.
'Cause my whole world lies waiting behind door number three.

Now I don't want what Jay's got on the table.
Or the box Carol Marol points to on the floor.
No I'll hold out as long as I am able
And someday I'll go unlock that lucky door.

They found us in the lost and found
Love was blind but now I see,
That my whole world lies waiting
Behind door number three.

And aint it hard to realize
He aint sellin' any alabies
As he stares into the vacuum of your eyes
And he says, Do you wanna' make a deal?

I know, I know, it's door number 1. And these are part of the lyrics to 'Door number three' by Steve Goodman. Just gonna' have to be close enough.

Oh, Monty, Monty Monty, I am walking down your Hall.
I got beat, lost my seat but I not a man to crawl
No I didn't get rich, you son of a bitch, I'll be back just wait and see
'Cause my whole world lies waiting behind door number three

Yes my, whole world lies waiting behind door number three,
Or was it one?

Variety is the spice of alleys

(1) That's okay, I'll hold it. (2) Yes, this is an alley. (3) Aspen history, slated for the hungry teeth of bulldozers. I've seen this all too frequently in the past.

Alley evolutions

I hearby amend my original mission statement. Aspen alleys theme has widened to include, behind the scenes and side streets. This image is technically a side street, not an alley.

Observatory

It's an observatory. It's on a hundred year old victorian that has suffered a lot of renovation.

Telluride, Crested Butte? No, Aspen.

A lot of Aspen's old funkyness is long demolished. Most places I once lived are gone. But, I am lucky, grateful and very appreciative of being able to live here. Now I just have to look harder for old warped wooden walls. The bike is unlocked. It's still a small safe place at 8000 feet in the rockies.

Over wrought iron and pitted bricks.

Details, details, worked Victorian iron and the one hundred and twenty six year old back wall of the Independence Building on Cooper Street.

The whole house was this brilliant blue for decades.

In some places people put their old cars up on blocks in the yard in front of their houses/trailers. In Aspen we put the whole house up on blocks to add a full basement that they forgot to put in back in the 1880's when this Victorian was built. And no, there were no cars up on blocks in this yard/neighborhood/town.

Old Aspen Town

My goal with 'Aspen Alleys' is to show parts of my town that you wouldn't ordinarily see. Also I am looking for old Aspen, scenes that could well have been the street scene at one time. I'm also looking for images that would make a person think, that's Aspen?
